This week’s featured pet from Friends of Companion Animals is Duchess, a beautiful one-year-old cat found in a parking lot with her litter of three kittens in October 2013. FOCA trapped Duchess and the kittens, took them in provided each with medical care and temporary shelter.
“Duchess is fixed, vaccinated and ready to be adopted,” says Penny Bly, director of FOCA. “She’s very sweet. We recently had one family look at her. They adopted another of our cats, so now it’s Duchess’s turn.”
In the five months Duchess has been with FOCA, she’s been socialized with other cats and a variety of people. “She comes up and greets everybody, rubs against them,” Penny explains. “Then she goes back to her spot and lies down. She’s very docile.”
Many people have looked at Duchess because of her popular coloring – gray and white. But, as Penny says, she’s a little shy after her rough start in the world. That’s why she was selected as this week’s featured pet: she deserves a loving home in which owners will help bring her out of her shell.
“She just needs to get to know you, and then she’ll love you with all of her heart,” Penny advises.
