River Raisin National Battlefield Park will celebrate a Spring Open House on Saturday, May 18th from 10am to 4pm.
Special guest presentations at 11am and 2pm by Genot Picor, who will delight visitors young and old with his performance of Metis (French and Native American) stories, songs and dances.
Event activities include living history encampments, musket demonstrations, military drills, mini-militia’s, 1812 games, and historical demonstrations of cooking, gardening, medicines, clothing, archaeology digs and much more! Major Muskrat will join the activities if he deems the weather suitable: “Hey Everyone, come on out and join the fun with me this weekend… I forecast a sunny day full of excitement on the grounds of the Battlefield!” said Major Muskrat.
Archaeology digs are scheduled for 10am and 1pm. Musket drills at noon and 3pm. Children’s games at 12:30 and 3:30pm.
