Because we live in Michigan, we’re told to expect cold fingers, cold toes and cold noses this time of year. Indeed, the state has had no shortage of extreme winters in the past.
On February 9, 1934, Michigan recorded its coldest-ever temperature in the town of Vanderbilt at –51 degrees F.
The record low in Detroit for January was set in 1994, when temperatures dipped to –17 degrees F.
Now, in other parts of the U.S., the 126th Rose Parade is predicted to be the coldest ever as freezing rain and snow blow into Southern California.
