Free Children's Fishing Derby

A free fishing derby for children, ages 5-10 years, will be held on Saturday, July 27. Registration begins at 9:45 am, and fishing will continue between 10:00-12:00. The derby, co-sponsored by the Monroe Boat Club and the Department of Natural Resources, will be held at the Hoffman Memorial Access Site in Bolles Harbor, Monroe. Fishing poles will be provided by the DNR, prizes provided by the Michigan State University Monroe Alumni Association, and bait provided by the Erie Party Shoppe. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and wear a life jacket. Prizes will be awarded at 12:15.
