The holiday season is filled with laughter, cheer, song and dance. The RRCA is giving the community an extra filling of all these things on Saturday, December 14th at 7:30 pm with Tony Kenny’s Christmastime in Ireland. Celebrate the Christmas season with Tony Kenny, Ireland’s Premier Entertainer, and his all-star cast: King of Blarney George Casey, 3-time Irish Recording Artist of the Year Kathy Durkin, and one of Ireland’s best folk bands, The Dublin Trinity Band. Added into this fine mix of Irish artist are the Dublin City Dancers.
Christmastime in Ireland transports audiences to the Emerald Isle to celebrate the holiday season through the performances of Tony Kenny and his all-star cast. Kenny is an icon in the world of Irish music and has received dozens of awards for his stage and television performances. George Casey, King of Blarney, adds comedy to this performance with his self-deprecating humor tempered with his Irish brogue.
The rich music of this performance is provided by one of Ireland’s leading female entertainers, Kathy Durkin, and The Dublin Trinity Band. Durkin is 3-Time Irish Recording Artist of the Year whose warm personality and happy smile light up every stage. Her version of The Working Man spent an incredible full year on the Irish charts, and was voted best song in Ireland in 1991 and 1992.
Kathy is joined by The Dublin Trinity Band, which is one of Ireland’s best folk bands. Featuring the lovely and dynamic Sarah Rodgers on violin and guitar; renowned Irish pianist and composer, Andreas Durkin on vocals and keyboard; David Hayes, recognized as one of the finest musical directors in Ireland, on piano; and Ireland’s best accordion player, Peter Brown on button accordion.
This show would not be complete without The Dublin City Dancers led by Sarah Costello, who has toured the world for 6 years performing as dance captain and lead dancer in world renowned Irish dance shows as well as Walt Disney World. She is joined by Maggie Darlington, fresh from touring with Riverdance and Ethan Walker, an Australian native who was an original cast member of Michael Flatley’s Celtic Tiger and Lord of the Dance.
