The dark and musty room provides a foreboding venue for Madam X, from parts unknown. Her face is half-covered with a black veil. Her eyes open slowly as she stares across the old wooden table. Candles flicker, and fog drifts from beneath a tattered curtain. She waves her hands above the crystal ball and begins to tell you your fate. Like a small television screen, she sees all.
We have all seen this scenario portrayed in film. The wicked witch in “The Wizard of Oz,” shows a frightened Dorothy wishing to go back to the safety of Aunt Em and the farm in Kansas. In studying this phenomenon, I’m finding it takes the ability of astral vision. When a haze comes over the ball, you are making contact with another dimension. You may see a vision of a future event, but it will be brief.
You can use this information to make decisions about love and marriage. Sometimes the images appear in your mind. Is this real, or an overactive imagination and auto suggestions? You decide: fact or fiction? I have never experienced sat before a fortune teller and crystal ball, so I have no experience to relate. I have, however, had a reading on the Tarot Cards.
Tarot Cards contain a series of illustration. The idea is that they can help you make a decision about something. They do not answer yes or no questions. If you already have your mind made up about something, there is no point in viewing the cards. Another person may get a different interpretation of your cards, and some readings may be completely wrong. Beware of con artists who charge high prices for errant readings – more fog!
The reading I had was no help in my decision-making process. I found the information general in nature and just plain common sense. When I was in middle school, the Magic Eight Ball was popular. IT was black and the size of a softball. You asked it a question, turn it over and watch a response float to the surface. Some of the responses were yes, no, ask again later, it is decidedly so, etc.
I also had experience with a Ouija Board. Many people denounce this medium as satanic and demonic. A recent motion picture used it as its theme and title. We would huddle around this small board and place our hands on a triangular object and ask a question. The triangle would slide around pointing to letters and numbers. We always accused each other of pushing it. I found this medium to be way off base as well. I was predicted to have six children, and I have none. We didn’t take it seriously, but some folks do.
I met a professional astrologist while I was selling cars in Taylor. She had a regular radio show and served as the CEO of astrologers. I set up an appointment to have a reading in her home. It cost me $50. I took a tape player and recorded the event. I kept an open mind and tried to pin her down on certain events. She claimed to be able to tell you the date of your marriage, but she refused to do that with me. She told me I would be married in six years. This was 23 years ago, and I haven’t even come close to marriage. She also told me October would be the best month for car sales – it was my worst. Remember, this was a professional who made her living this way. Buyer beware!
At my class reunion, I talked with a former classmate who claimed to have the gift of being psychic. In school she was bullied and mocked. she approached me at the reunion and studied me for a period of time. She then said, “Be careful on those four steps at home.” (I have exactly four steps.) “Don’t get on a step ladder.” (The day before, while changing a porch light, I almost fell off the ladder). “You are a very organized person with a place for everything.” (Exactly right.) “You were hurt very badly in a relationship, and as a result, you’ve built up a wall and won’t let anyone in.” (This too is exactly right.)
Go figure.
