This holiday season the River Raisin Centre for the Arts will present an all new Christmas spectacular directed by Tracy Glover with music direction by Josh Glover and choreography by Alyssa Langmeyer. Home for the Holidays will feature tappers, singers, Rockettes, a children’s chorus, a fantastic show band, and tons of Christmas cheer all while paying tribute to our local veterans.
Home for the Holidays is a two hour and fifteen minute variety show. The show first came into conception last fall and was casted by early October 2014. Glover’s goal was to feature the community’s and theatre’s adult and youth talent outside of the traditional holiday musicals she has directed over the past several years. Featuring seven leads, an adult and youth chorus and dancers from the River Raisin Dance Academy, Home for the Holidays will showcase many different genres of music and as well as dance numbers accompanied by a fabulous orchestra.
The show will also poignantly feature a tribute to Monroe County’s local veterans. Glover and her team are currently looking for pictures and names of those in Monroe County who have recently returned from duty or are currently serving over the holidays to put together a video montage during one of the numbers. The show will also feature the men’s ensemble in the songs White Christmas and I’ll Be Home for Christmas, which will be sung in tribute to veterans.
Of her cast and crew, Glover says “I am so blessed to have such wonderful talent at my disposal here at The River Raisin Repertory Company and I cannot wait to share it with everyone. We wanted to give the public a show that they can just come and enjoy over the holiday season with their families and friends. There is something for everyone in this show and it will leave you ready to celebrate the holidays with your own families and friends.”
Home for the Holidays takes place on December 20th at 7:30 pm and December 21st at 3:00 pm. Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors and $15 for students and children. Family packages of four tickets are available for $60.
