Friends of Companion Animals is a 501c3 non-profit animal welfare organization. We have a re-sale shop in The manufacturer’s Marketplace on LaPlaisance Rd. in Monroe. We raise all our monies through our re-sale store and events. We are a dedicated group of volunteers that believe together we can make a difference for the companion animals of Monroe County. We help low income pet owners spay/neuter their pets at a discounted price. (In many cases this may determine whether or not they can keep their pet or have to surrender it to a shelter). 70% of cats and 35% of dogs never make it out of shelters alive.
We believe that one of the solutions to the overpopulation problem is spay/neuter. We have a team of volunteers who trap/neuter/return, and sometimes re-home free roaming cats and kittens. We are actively looking for barns and country homes to re-home feral cats, so if you know of anyone who has mice or ground moles, please tell them we have cats. We have been very busy in the last year, from March through December we fixed 441 cats & 45 dogs, we saved and re-homed nearly 200 kittens, and we re-homed 149 cats.
In the beginning of 2013 we partnered with Humane Ohio, a low cost spay/neuter clinic in Toledo, Ohio and recently we have partnered with Pet Supplies Plus’s Adoption Program. We have adoptable cats in Pet Supplies Plus (on Telegraph Rd in Monroe) at all times and hold adoption events there every other Saturday. We also take cats and kittens from Monroe County Animal Shelter and re-home them. Needless to say we are not lacking people or animals to help, we are lacking funds and resources….We need your support to continue our mission. We are in need of monetary donations, cat litter, cat food, kitten food, donations for our re-sale store, and we are always in need of foster homes and volunteers.
Thank you for your support! We can make a difference for the animals if we all work together!
