Mercy Memorial will hold its 9th Annual Fantasy of Christmas Trees Gala Saturday, November 9 from 6 p.m. to midnight at the La-Z-Boy Center at Monroe County Community College, located at 1555 Raisinville Road in Monroe. Proceeds will benefit our Cancer Patient Assistance Fund and construction of a healing garden on our Stewart Road campus.
The gala will feature live entertainment from Motor City Soul, a Fire and Ice Lounge with themed martinis and a fine jewelry sale hosted by Diamond Designs, as well as a live auction featuring exciting trips and experiences and a silent auction, which will offer more than 130 items. Approximately eight professionally designed and decorated Christmas trees will also be available in the silent auction, with many of them being displayed in the hospital lobby for several weeks prior to the event. The silent auction commences at 6 p.m. The live auction – always a crowd-pleaser – begins at 9 p.m., hosted by Kay Lani Rafko-Wilson and managed by auctioneer Jim Alban, and will feature packages of trips and experiences.
One highlight of the evening will be the premiere of “Man Tree 007 – The World Is Not Enough!” At 7 p.m., the main stage of the Meyer Theatre will be transformed into a casino worthy of…you guessed it…James Bond himself. In fact, it is rumored that he will make a personal appearance at the event – and where he goes, excitement always follows.
The five Man Tree 007 prize drawings will fall into several categories, each worth between two and five thousand dollars:
· “Thunderball” (sponsored by Friendly Ford Lincoln, Gerweck Nissan, Groulx Automotive, Stanford Allen Chevrolet, and Monroe Dodge Jeep Superstore) will offer a $5,000 down payment on a new or leased car, redeemable over three years;
· “Goldfinger” (sponsored by DTE Energy) will feature a one ounce American Eagle gold coin, a $500 gold necklace and Maui Jim sunglasses among other prizes;
· “You Only Live Twice” (sponsored by La-Z-Boy and Durocher’s) will feature a 58” flat screen TV, and blu-ray DVD player and a La-Z-Boy chair among other prizes;
· “Tomorrow Never Dies” (sponsored by Monroe Bank & Trust) will feature sports tickets to the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Lions, Detroit Pistons, Ranger prescription sports glasses, and a $500 gift certificate to the MGM Grand; and
· “Moonraker” (sponsored by Leckler’s and L.A. Lawn & Landscaping) will feature a 48” Husqvarna lawn tractor and a $1,500 gift certificate.
There will be a true “Casino Royale” on the main stage, complete with Bond Girl dealers and an opportunity to win raffle tickets for a “Diamonds Are Forever” diamond ring sponsored by Carroll Ochs Jewelers.
There are also two tree raffles. Key Bank is sponsoring a Money Tree raffle, which includes a decorated tree valued at $500 and $500 cash. MMHS is offering a raffle for a Northern Lodge Tree, which includes a 7.5 foot frosted tree, a red cart, iPad mini, Keurig brewer and a $250 gift card to Macy’s for a total prize value of $2,500. Both trees are currently on display in the hospital lobby.
Raffle tickets may be purchased in the MMHS lobby during select times or by contacting the Office of Philanthropy.
