The River Raisin Repertoire Company will present six shows of Monty Python’s Spamalot from November 8th– 17th. Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical, this comedy sensation is lovingly ripped off from the film classic Monty Python and The Holy Grail. Spamalot tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. Flying cows, killer rabbits, taunting Frenchmen and show-stopping musical numbers are just a few of the reasons audiences will be eating up Spamalot.
The show is directed by Tracy Glover. Show times are November 8th, 9th, 15th, and 16th at 7:30 pm and November 10th and 17th at 3:00 pm. Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors and $15 for students and children. They are now on sale by stopping by the RRCA at 114 South Monroe Street, calling the box office at (734)-242-7722, or visiting our website at www.riverraisincentre.org.
With book, music and lyrics by Eric Idle and music by John Du Prez, Spamalot includes a lot of boundary pushing and goofy British humor. This show is directed by Tracy Glover with music direction by Mark Felder and choreography by Alyssa Langmeyer. Auditions for the show were held at the end of August. The show has a total of 18 cast members with Rob Foulkrod, Denny Connors, Tim Middleton, Jeffrey King, Lonny Aldridge, Josh Mohler and Bridgette Halcomb playing the lead Knights and Lady.
Glover, who has directed many River Raisin Music Theatre productions including The Rocky Horror Show, Les Miserables, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas and Footloose, says Spamalot is “a must see for any Monty Python fan and will make you laugh at least once if not throughout the whole show”.
The RRCA is the first regional theater in Michigan to be granted the rights to this Tony Award-winning musical.
