As the RRCA gears up for the 2013-2014 Marquee Season, the arts program faculty is excitedly preparing for the beginning of fall classes. To see what arts education is all about at the premier regional center for performing arts education in Monroe, stop by the annual RRCA Open House on Tuesday, August 27th from 6-8 pm.
The RRCA Open House will provide prospective students with the opportunity to explore the theatre, speak with faculty and current students and see live performances on stage by RRCA singers, dancers and musicians. All ages, talent levels and supporters are welcome. This is a great night for people to learn about our programs whether you are interested for you, a friend or a family member now or in the future.
“This night highlights all our arts education programs together,” said RRCA Executive Director Mike Trapp. “It will be especially helpful for families where several members, at varying ability levels, can explore diverse performing arts interests.”
The RRCA offers classes and private lessons — ages three through 103 — for the absolute beginner to advance, college-prep and pre-professional in vocal music, creative dramatics, piano, percussion, wind instruments, all string instruments, and a variety of dance disciplines, including tap, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, Zumba, musical theatre, ballroom, modern as well as ballet taught through the Enrico Checcetti method.
The RRCA — built in 1938 in the Art Deco-style — is in use 320 days per year and attracts 50,000 visitors annually to downtown Monroe. The arts education campus, which has added another facility this year, accommodates more than 700 youth each week learn dance, dramatics, vocal music, piano, percussion as well as string and wind instrumental music from RRCA staff degreed in these respective disciplines and also the home to resident performing arts companies that showcase local youth and adult talent.
