Mercy Memorial Cancer Connection is hosting the first annual Run 4 HOPE 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, September 6, 2014. The proceeds of the event benefit the Mercy Memorial Cancer Connection.
Presented by Mercy Memorial Hospital System and Food Town, the registration (located at Food Town, 211 N. Telegraph, Monroe) begins at 8 a.m. and the race starts at 9:30 a.m. The accurately-measured course starts and finishes at Food Town with one water stop on the course.
“In addition to remembering those who have bravely battled cancer, this 5K run is also to remind each of us that we can make decisions that will lower the chance of getting cancer,” said Joan Pierson, Manager, Oncology Program and Cancer Connection. “Consistently choosing to change our unhealthy habits, make smart food choices and allow ourselves the time to routinely exercise are important decisions for cancer prevention as well as cancer recovery.”
