The results are in for Soliant Health’s 5th annual list of the 20 Most Beautiful Hospitals in America. For the fifth year in a row, Soliant Health turned to hospital staff, patients, and supporters for help in choosing the top 20 hospitals worthy of “Most Beautiful Hospital in the U.S.” distinction. With a process slightly different from previous years, the winners rested entirely on voters’ hands.
Mercy Memorial Hospital took 16th place out of the Top 20 hospitals.
Architects Hobbs + Black replaced an aging 1929 structure with the modern, curving lines of this multi-award-winning facility.
Nominations began in April with voting in May and June. Tina Turner, lead tech in Central Sterile Processing nominated the hospital.
“I believe our hospital is beautiful – not only because we redesigned our lobby,” said Turner. “The outside of our hospital is new and we have state of the art surgery and emergency departments. Our lobby and our cafeteria are beautiful. With that said, the most important reason why our hospital is beautiful is because of our staff here at Mercy Memorial Hospital.”
Turner credits the caring staff from the nurses to the housekeeping and dietary.
“To me, it’s not just the construction of a hospital or the beautiful flowers and trees around it… it’s about the love and care that the staff provides for our patients and for each other,” she said.
MMHS received a plaque in honor of the distinction of being in the Top 20 Most Beautiful Hospitals Contest.
