Mercy Memorial Hospital System presents the 2nd Annual Bike-a-thon to benefit cardiovascular patient care services at 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013, rain or shine.
The rolling start begins with registration from 9 to 11 a.m. in the parking lot of Mercy Memorial Hospital, 718 N. Macomb in Monroe. Lunch will be provided after the 10-17 mile course (two courses to choose from) follows through scenic Monroe for those who are 16 years of age or older. The cost is $25 per person before August 15 and $35 after August 16 through the day of the ride. Cyclists must wear a helmet to participate.
“The Bike-a-thon is important to promote fitness and well-being of all the people in the Monroe community,” said Manhar Tejura, M.D. “Exercise in any form is great and a Bike-a-thon is a fun way to do it. Mercy Memorial Hospital is not only for taking care of the sick, but to promote fitness, well-being and the health of the community.”
Riders may also help the Cardiovascular Services patients at MMHS by collecting pledges and making a donation for those who need services and may be unable to pay.
